Hackathon

Event Description:

Hackathon is a platform to help programmers to make it big in the world of algorithms, computer programming. We are here to revive the geek in you by hosting this programming challenge, to hone your skills. Compete against other techies and gain recognition and win cool prizes.

General Rules:

At the close of the Entry Period a panel of judges will review all entries and select one Grand Prize winner and three First Place winners based on the following judging criteria:

Originality / Creativity (35%)
Composition/syntax (35%)
Simplicity/scalability/security/test (30.00%)
The decisions of the judges are final and binding
In the event of a tie between any eligible entries, an additional judge will break the tie based on the judging criteria described above.

KNOCK OUT

Event Description:

“It is better to debate a question without settling it than to settle a question without debating it.” A series of two rounds which combine knowledge, oration and aptitude to ensure that people have a learning and enjoyable experience.

General Rules:

Total participants per school/college will be 2
1 will be for and 1 against
At a time a student will speak for the motion, followed by one against the motion. Time allotted would be 2 minutes
For the second round, they will be given 3 minutes (Note: Negative marking for interjection)
Topics will be shared one week prior to the event

Innovation Challenge

Event Description:

Imagine. Invent. Inspire. Everything is theoretically impossible until it is done. Showcase your aptitude by making models and explaining them on the day.

General Rules:

Number of members per team 1 to 3
Every team gets 5 to 10 minutes to explain their model.
Models need to be prepared and bought to the venue for final presentation.
The decisions of the judges will be final and binding.

Brain Quilla

Event Description:

“A life is made up of a great number of small incidents and a small number of great ones.” A set of five rounds perfectly designed for quizzards of the highest order! A quiz filled with exciting rounds and a multitude of topics, which is sure to filter the good from the very best.

General Rules:

Two members per team, per college.
The decision of the quizmaster is final.
The rules, format and the rounds of the quiz will be communicated to the participating teams after the registrations have been completed .

Photo Journalism

Event Description:

The written word has power! A journalist expose the deeds of the word and make it visual as real. A photographer not only clicks a moment but, turns every picture into a story. We must understand the relationship between the image and elements of language. We are combining the talent of writting and clicking together. Show us creativity and team work! .

General Rules:

Photography

A team of two will represent each college/school. Particiapnts will be carrying their own DSLR cameras for the event.
A team has two cover the complete event over the span of 3 days.
Each participant can submit 15 to 20 images in a pen drive.
Submitted images should be in JPEG format and at least 1,600 pixels wide for a horizontal image or 1,600 pixels tall for a vertical image.
The images will be selected by a panel of judges and their decision will be final.
No correspondence pertaining to the selection process and decision will be entertained
- The panel of judges will evaluate the images based on the following criteria:- Artistic/visual appeal
- Extent to which the photograph captures the essence of the theme

Images will be judged based on originality, creativity and relevance to the theme.
(Note: Pictures clicked by you can circulated by PACE in print or in social media.Pace will be using the images that have been submitted by you.)

Journalism

The article has to be in English
A team will consist of two students:One photographer and one script writer.
You will be judged across all three days as a team, and on the final day the result will be declared.
Topics will be shared one week prior.

Football

Event Description:

“Football is believing, it is total commitment… Football is one goal, it is what you give 101%... Football is brotherhood, on & off the field… Football is everything!” The Kicks on Grass game has a steady fan following locally, from the time when the British soldiers brought it to India. Showcase some of your football skills.

General Rules:

The duration of the game is 15/15 minutes.
Referee's decision will be taken as final.
Only the goal keeper of the defending team can use the whole body to stop the goal.
Other rules remain the same.
Football matches will be conducted only for boys.

Basketball

Event Description:

“Shoot for your goals!” It's time to lace up. Have fun through the netball drills.

General Rules:

The maximum team limit is 10 players and a coach.
A particular match would be split into two halves of 15 minutes each.
Other rules remain the same.
There will be two separate teams for boys and girls.

Cricket

Event Description:

“Sometimes opportunities come and you've got to try and take it.” Whether you are a master or have just played in the backyard, at school, in the park or on the beach, you can just play the game and show your skills, represent your school and win the cup..

General Rules:

Each side will get to bat for 6 overs.
General rules remain the same.
Cricket matches will be conducted only for boys.

Chess

Event Description:

Chess is the touchstone of the intellect. “Play the opening like a book, the middle game like a magician, and the end game like a machine.”

General Rules:

Maximum 3 participants from each school.
A win would fetch the player 2 points. In case of a draw, the points are split between the two players.
The duration of the game will be 30 minutes (CHECK)
Touch and move to be applied. If a player touches a particular chess piece, then they have to play that

Badminton

Event Description:

“Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.”

General Rules:

Participants will be playing doubles matches.
Overall, the decision of referee and line judges will be final.
There will be two separate teams for boys and girls.

kho kho

Event Description:

Kho kho is a tag sport played by teams of twelve players, of which nine enter the field, who try to avoid being touched by members of the opposing team. “Win or lose, do it fairly!”

General Rules:

Each team plays for 9 minutes instead of 7x1/2 minutes.
A runner shall not touch any sitting chaser. If she does so, she will be given a caution. But if she does it again, she will be declared out
If three runners are made out, consecutively by an active chaser, she cannot touch the forth runner; she will have to kho to any sitting chaser.
Sitting chasers are not allowed to create any obstruction in the way of runners. If any runner is touched by an active chaser due to such obstruction, the runner will not be considered out.
A team consists of 12 players out of which 9 players will be on field team and the remaining 3 players act as substitutes or extra players.
A toss of coin should decide the right to choose chasing or defending.
The captain may end their turn before allowed time.
When the turn starts, a chaser should not leave the square without getting a "kho".
Once all the runners are out before time. They send their runners again in the same order.
A "kho" by a chaser should be given from behind a sitting chaser loudly.
After giving Kho, an active chaser should sit immediately on the vacated square.
A defender is declared out, if he is touched by hand by an active chaser without breaking any rule.
Only girl participants are allowed to take part.

Step-Up

Event Description:

Unleash the hidden (or the not so hidden!!) dancer in you to win the ultimate Dance battle! Completely unwind yourself and go back to the basics and make the crowd groove to your moves. Dancing has existed at all times and among all people and races. It is a form of expression given to man just as speech, philosophy, painting or music. So participate in this Dance competition and carve your way to the top. “It's time to steal the show!”

General Rules:

For all the rounds, music will be played by the organizers.
There is no constraint on the genres of dance.
No revealing costumes.
There will be two eliminative rounds
Minimum participants can be 6 and maximum 10
We require that all participants bring a back-up CD, iPod, or USB. Files should be in MP3 format only
Participants will be judged on the basis of mastery in body movements, stage presentation, timing, expression & steps

Round 1: Tempo round: Contestants will dance on a 1:30 minute long sound track with varying genres and tempo. The performance time is 1-1:30 minutes.

Round 2: Tempo round: Contestants will dance on a 2:30 minute long sound track with varying genres and tempo. The performance time is 2-2:30 minutes.

Nightingales

Event Description:

“Music is the strongest form of magic.” So, spread your magic with your vocals. This will be an event open for vocalists. Let your voice speak what your heart can't express. Let everyone mesmerize and absorb all the attention and explore all the emotions.

General Rules:

Submission of songs will be closed 3 days prior to the competition event.
Minimum participants can be 6 and maximum 10 (including instrumentalist).
On the event day, we cannot control pitch level or speed of music.
Exceeding the time limit will result in negative marking.
Participants will be judged on the basis of mastery of lyrics, stage presentation, timing, pronunciation and voice
Participants have to bring their own instruments and/or karaoke tracks if it is being used.
We require that all participants bring a back-up CD, iPod or USB. Files should be in MP3 format only
There will be two elimination rounds:

Round 1: Tempo Round
Contestants will sing a song 2 minute long, genre can be bollywood, classical, Folk, Western, Light Music.

Round 2: Tempo Round
Contestants will sing a song 3 minute long, on the same genre sung in Round 1.

Paint

Event Description:

True art is the epitome of aestheticism. While beauty lies in the eyes of a beholder, a real artist creates beauty too breathtaking to behold. With over bounding creativity and supreme finesse, it’s your turn to bedazzle us with your artistic prowess.

General Rules:

This event is only for students studying in grade 6 to 10
The duration is 45 minutes.
Participants have to carry their own stationery such as colors, paint, pencils, sketch pens, erasers, etc.
Kindly use only water colors, poster colors, oil pastels.
Paper would be provided at the venue.

Important Rules:

Each participant can take part in only One event
Team should respect the time assigned, so that everyone gets a fair chance
Prior registration is essential, no On The Spot (OTS) registration will be accepted
For all events, entry fee for each participant is Rupees 100/-
Sports like Cricket and Football will be played by the boys, and Kho Kho will be played by the girls only
Last date for registration is 15th December 2016. We will accept the registration on First-Cum- First-Serve basis
No smoking, drinking or any kind of offensive activities will be tolerated in school premises

One Act Play

Event Description:

“Clear those throats, rack your brains, drum it up, and let your voices be heard by one and all. “ One act play” competition, centered around any of the social issues with minimal usage of props and maximum usage of human formations and oodles of energy. Be loud, be dramatic, be the mirror and act to the world!

General Rules:

Per college should have a team with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 people (excluding musicians and exclusive of all helpers)
No direct reference should be made to any personality.
There will two eliminative rounds. Scripts can be submitted by emailing it to us at paceeosfest@gmail.com
The duration for the play should be between 7 to 10 minutes.
No electronic music instruments will be allowed. (except electronic tanpura, keyboard & tabla).
Plays with social relevance are expected.
Teams have to bring their own props and costumes.
Light and sound will be provided. Teams need to inform about their requirements prior

Band

Event Description:

Watch as the stage is converted into a battlefield as the bands sweat it out in a winner-get- all-no- holds-barred- contest. This event focuses on a Bands understanding of music & the ability to connect with the audience. So come and participate! Just pack your guitar and get ready on the stairway for some good rock and roll.

General Rules:

Each college should have a team of minimum 5 and a maximum of 7 participants.
The duration of each performance should be 3 to 5 minutes.
Requirement of mics need to be communicated 3 days before the event.
Teams have to bring their own instruments, extension boards.

War of the DJs

Event Description:

It’s not love for Music, it’s a passion, and it goes beyond liking and beyond a hobby. Electrify the crowd with your music!

General Rules:

Each team can have maximum of 2 participants.
The duration of each performance 7 to 15 minutes.
Candidates have to carry their own pen-drives / Cd’s to play.
Console being provided : CDJ 2000 Nexus/ DJM 950.

Haute Couture

Event Description:

The most anticipated event that depicts Zenith of Glitziness and Glamour! This event is for all the lovely ladies and gentlemen who know how to step up their look and style.

General Rules:

Each college should have a team of minimum 7 and a maximum of 10 participants.
The duration for the walk should be between 7 to 10 minutes.
Music files need to be in an mp3 format in a pen drive / back up in a CD.
Teams have to bring their own props, make-up kit and costumes
